Postdoc

I began my scientific life studying animals through a BSc (Hons) in Zoology, sprinkled in some Biotechnology during my MSc, and somehow ended up spending my PhD in Molecular Biology and Microbiology obsessing over entities that aren't even technically alive — bacteria and viruses.

My research fascination lies in the invisible battles constantly unfolding in nature, particularly those involving viruses. I am captivated by the evolutionary tug-of-war between hosts and viruses — from TLR recognition and viral DNA sensing to the clever counter-measures viruses deploy to stay one step ahead. The more I learn about bacteriophages and eukaryotic viruses, the more convinced I become that viruses are the ultimate masters of strategy.

When I'm not chasing scientific mysteries, you'll probably find me playing badminton, enthusiastically discussing random topics with anyone willing to listen, or dramatically questioning my life choices after a failed experiment. Thankfully, those moments are temporary; curiosity, optimism, and an unhealthy level of excitement about viruses always win in the end.
