I have been fascinated by bacteriophages since my bachelor's studies, when I worked on combating plant infections caused by Pseudomonas syringae. During my master's and PhD studies at the Institute of Biochemistry and Biophysics in Warsaw, Poland, and during an internship at Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic, I investigated phage–host interactions in Staphylococcus aureus, focusing on phage resistance determinants.

 

What I enjoy most about science is that there is always another question to answer or another problem to solve. One achievement I am especially proud of is developing an easy-to-use genome engineering system for S. aureus based on a transducing phage and a shuttle plasmid.

 

Sometimes the best way to solve a problem is to let it sit for a while. To give them that time, I enjoy bouldering, playing video games, hiking, and spending time with my family.
